This scarf reminds me of dolly mixture sweets, childhood sweets which always tasted so good.
This is dyed with a mixture of lots of my favourite dyes:
little pieces of pomegranate rind, splodges of cochineal, the odd piece of madder root and the occasional dahlia petal to add a touch of orange.
Theres also a little bit of logwood bark for a dash of purple, the only dye which hasn’t been collected or grown by me.
All together that create this lovely, fun scarf which has to be one of my favourites.
Like all of my scarves this has been slowly dyed up on my roof using only the sun as a heat source, slowly and patiently letting nature do its work.
Obviously the scarf is unique.
It measures 45cm x 176cm (18” x 69”).
Pure silk with hand rolled edges.
The scarf can be washed in cool water and ironed. I usually iron on medium heat while the silk is still a little damp.
