Beautiful speckled terracotta and madder rose silk scarf.
This has been dyed with madder root which takes up to 3 years to grow before we harvest it.
We’ve just begun to harvest our own and by next year I hope to be fully independent with my own sustainable source.
The plant looks a little like sticky buds, prickly leaves and grows like mad.
Theres a wild variety which is very common here and which we have growing on our land ~ future experiments!
Like all of my scarves this has been slowly dyed up on my roof using only the sun as a heat source, slowly and patiently letting nature do its work.
Obviously the scarf is unique.
It measures 45cm x 176cm (18” x 69”).
Pure silk with hand rolled edges.
The scarf can be washed in cool water and ironed. I usually iron on medium heat while the silk is still a little damp.
